Cycle Oregon Comes to Tygh Valley
Cycle Oregon is coming to South Wasco this September with a special-edition Tygh Valley Rally. Two back-to-back events are planned for the weekends of September 10 and 17, with an estimated 350-500 cyclists expected for each event. Overnight tent camping will be provided at the Wasco County Fairgrounds, with tent camping available free of charge midweek between events (September 13-16). A list of recommended activities and places to eat will be made available by Cycle Oregon to registered cyclists in August.
South Wasco Alliance, along with other local businesses and organizations, are partnering with Cycle Oregon to coordinate logistics and showcase a variety of complimentary activities that will introduce visiting cyclists to South Wasco local food, music, crafts, recreational amenities, and history.
Do you make handmade crafts that participating cyclists might wish to buy as a memento of their time here in South Wasco?
Are you a musician or in a band that might be interested in performing at the Cycle Oregon event?
Are you passionate about South Wasco history, geology, flora or fauna, or have a favorite local hike, vista, or attraction you’d be willing to share on tour with a small group of interested visitors to our area?
If any of these opportunities speak to you, or if you know someone who might have interest, please email South Wasco Alliance as soon as possible to learn more: info@southwascoalliance.org. Plans are being made now to showcase locally grown food and our local musicians, handmade crafts, historical sites, and storytellers.
Cycle Oregon is a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming individuals and communities through bicycling. Proceeds from events go to the Cycle Oregon Fund, which helps preserve and protect the special places of Oregon and supports community development projects in the regions through which we ride.
